Equity markets cracked, while bond yields on the 10-year government securities firmed up, in the second half of the trading session on Friday as growth concerns weighed on investor sentiment. The S&P BSE Sensex crashed 937 points from the day’s high and hit a low of 59,474 during the day. It, eventually, closed at 59,646, down 652 points or 1.08 per cent.
The NSE Nifty50, meanwhile, touched an intra-day low of 17,710 before settling 198 points, or 1.1 per cent, lower at 17,758.
The broad-based sell-off was led by financials including IndusInd Bank (down 4 per cent), Bajaj twins, SBI, ICICI Bank, Kotak Bank, and HDFC duo. That apart, Tata Steel, NTPC, HUL, Maruti Suzuki, RIL, and M&M were the other heavyweight losers. The only Sensex gainers were L&T, Infosys, and TCS.
Sectorally, the BSE Metal index shed 1.8 per cent, the BSE Bankex index 1.7 per cent, and the BSE PSU index 1.6 per cent
In the broader market, the BSE MidCap and SmallCap indices fell 1.27 per cent and 0.93 per cent respectively.

It was a one-way rally on Dalal Street on Friday as investors started the first day of the new financial year (FY23) with across-the-board buying. The frontline S&P BSE Sensex zoomed 708 points, or 1.2 per cent, to settle at 59,277. The Nifty50, meanwhile, soared 206 points or 1.2 per cent to end at 17,670.
The broader indices, too, advanced in-line with large-caps with the BSE MidCap and SmallCap indices climbing 1.4 per cent and 1.7 per cent, respectively.
NTPC, PowerGrid, IndusInd Bank, SBI, HDFC, M&M, HDFC Bank, Bajaj Finance, Wipro, Axis Bank, Maruti Suzuki, and ITC were the biggest Sensex gainers, surging in the range of 1.5 per cent to 6 per cent.
On the downside, only Tech M, Dr Reddy’s Labs, Sun Pharma, Titan, and Infosys were the drags, down up to 0.7 per cent.
In the broader market space, Adani Power, BHEL, Bajaj Holdings, RBL Bank, SML Isuzu, Sahyadri Industries, Mrs Bectors Foods, and Spandana Sphoorty leaped between 5 per cent and 10 per cent.
Sectorally, the Nifty PSU Bank index jumped 4 per cent on the bourses with Union Bank, Bank of India, Canara Bank, and Bank of Maharashtra adding over 4 per cent each.
The Nifty Bank, Private Bank, Media, Financial Services, Realty, and FMCG indices, meanwhile, added between 1.5 per cent and 2 per cent.

The key benchmark indices languished in the negative zone, exhibiting lackluster movement for the major part of the trading, before recouping losses at close led by fresh buying in auto and financial shares.
The BSE benchmark index, the Sensex, opened 110-odd points lower at 58,697, and after briefing sneaking into the positive zone, fell to a low of 58,415 – down nearly 400 points. However, the Sensex eventually ended the day with a minor loss of 20 points at 58,787. In the process, it did snap its three-day winning streak. For the week, the BSE index was up 1.9 per cent (1,091 points).
The NSE Nifty declined to a low of 17,405, before settling six points lower at 17,511.
Asian Paints was the major gainer among the Sensex 30 stock, it surged 3 per cent to Rs 3,277. SBI, Mahindra & Mahindra and TCS were the other notable gainers. On the flip side, Titan, HDFC, Axis Bank and Kotak Bank were the notable losers in trade on Friday.

Last minute buying helped benchmark indices eke out gains and close in the green one a gap of two days, with Airtel, Nestle India, TCS and ITC contributing the most to gains. Meanwhile, privtae banks, RIL and Infosys were among the top drags.
The BSE Sensex settled the volatile session on the day of weekly F&O expiry at 58,305, up 55 points while Nifty closed 4 points higher at 17,357. In the 50-pack index, 30 stocks closed in the green and 20 in the red.
Buying momentum remained high in midcap and smallcap stocks as the BSE Midcap ended up 0.56 per cent and the BSE smallcap 0.52 per cent. Both indices also hit their respective all-time highs in today’s session.
In sectoral space, Nifty Realty followed by Financial Services, Pharma and Bank were the top losers. On the other hand, Nifty Media, with a gain of 2.97 per cent was the best performing index. Nearly 20 per cent rally in Dish TV helped the media index put up a strong show. Other sectoral gainers were Metal, FMCG, IT and PSU Bank.

The domestic stock market ended flat with a positive bias on Friday. The S&P BSE Sensex settled 14 points, or 0.04 per cent higher at 38,854.5 levels while NSE’s Nifty ended at 11,464, up 15 points, or 0.13 per cent. India VIX dropped nearly 3 per cent to 20.68 levels.
SBI (up 2 per cent) ended as the top gainer on the S&P BSE Sensex while IndusInd Bank (down nearly 2 per cent) was the biggest loser. Of 30 constituents, 10 advanced while 20 declined.
On a weekly basis, Sensex gained 1.29 per cent while Nifty added 1.15 per cent.
The broader market, however, fared better than the frontline indices. The S&P BSE MidCap index settled at 14,660 levels, up 0.58 per cent and the S&P BSE SmallCap index ended 0.52 per cent higher at 14,558.
Sectorally, IT stocks rallied the most. The Nifty IT index ended 1.29 per cent higher at 18,633 levels. Nifty PSU Bank index gained 0.79 per cent while Nifty FMCG index settled 0.63 per cent higher at 30,972 levels.

Shares of Max Healthcare Institute (MHIL) hit a high of Rs 133.80 on the BSE during the day on the back of heavy block deals. The stock settled at Rs 131.30, up around 17.5 per cent.
Strides Pharma ended nearly 13 per cent higher at Rs 685.90. In the past two months, the stock has rallied over 64 per cent after the company reported strong performance across all business segments in the April-June 2020 quarter (Q1FY21) despite significant disruptions and ambiguity in the business environment due to Covid 19.

Equity market was highly volatile in the afternoon session on Friday with the benchmark indices oscillating berween the positive and negative territories after Moody’s Investors Services downgraded India’s sovereign outlook from ‘stable’ to ‘negative’, saying concerns mount the economic slowdown will be prolonged and debt will rise.
After hitting a fresh record high of 40741.69 levels during the session, the frontline S&P BSE Sensex was trading around 100 points lower. Private Banks were trading higher, with ICICI Bank, IndusInd Bank and YES Bank up in the range of 3-7 per cent. On the downside, Sun Pharma was trading nearly 3 per cent lower.
On the NSE, the Nifty50 slipped below the crucial 12,000-mark to hover around 11,950 levels. .
Sectorally, Nifty Realty index was the top gainer, up 2.3 per cent, followed by gains in Nifty Private Bank (up 0.74 per cent), and Nifty Auto (up 0.58 per cent) indices. On the flipside, Nifty Pharma and FMCG indices, each, were trading over a per cent lower.
The broader markets, however, were trading in the green. The S&P BSE mid-cap index was up 0.06 per cent, while the S&P BSE small-cap index was up 0.12 per cent.
