Equity market was highly volatile in the afternoon session on Friday with the benchmark indices oscillating berween the positive and negative territories after Moody’s Investors Services downgraded India’s sovereign outlook from ‘stable’ to ‘negative’, saying concerns mount the economic slowdown will be prolonged and debt will rise.
After hitting a fresh record high of 40741.69 levels during the session, the frontline S&P BSE Sensex was trading around 100 points lower. Private Banks were trading higher, with ICICI Bank, IndusInd Bank and YES Bank up in the range of 3-7 per cent. On the downside, Sun Pharma was trading nearly 3 per cent lower.
On the NSE, the Nifty50 slipped below the crucial 12,000-mark to hover around 11,950 levels. .
Sectorally, Nifty Realty index was the top gainer, up 2.3 per cent, followed by gains in Nifty Private Bank (up 0.74 per cent), and Nifty Auto (up 0.58 per cent) indices. On the flipside, Nifty Pharma and FMCG indices, each, were trading over a per cent lower.
The broader markets, however, were trading in the green. The S&P BSE mid-cap index was up 0.06 per cent, while the S&P BSE small-cap index was up 0.12 per cent.

Benchmark indices ended little changed on Friday; however banking stocks had a field day with the State Bank of India (SBI) jumping over 7 per cent (Rs 282) on 3-fold jump in its net profit at Rs 3,012 crore for the September quarter.
YES Bank, too, rallied around 8 per cent to Rs 52 apiece on the BSE.
The S&P BSE Sensex added 38 points or 0.10 per cent to end the Samvat 2075 at 39,058 levels. The NSE’s Nifty50 index ended at 11,584, up just 1 point or 0.01 per cent.
In the broader market, the S&P BSE MidCap index ended at 14,342, up around 3 points or 0.02 per cent while the S&P BSE SmallCap index lost 51 points or 0.39 per cent to close at 13,153.
Among other buzzing stocks, ICICI Bank hit a new high of Rs 470.70 apiece on the BSE during the session with the market capitalisation (m-cap) surpassing Rs 3 trillion-mark.
On the other hand, Piramal Enterprises tanked 17 in the afternoon deals on the BSE after the company announced capital-raising plan. The stock eventually settled at Rs 1,590 apiece, down around 8 per cent.
Volatiity index India VIX slipped around 6 per cent to 15.30 levels.
Among the sectoral indices on the NSE, PSU bank stocks advanced the most, followed by IT counters. The Nifty PSU Bank index gained 3.38 per cent to end at 2,300 levels. Nifty Bank rallied 1 per cent to 29,396-mark.

Benchmark indices were trading higher in Friday’s afternoon trade, lifted by bank and automobile stocks.
The S&P BSE Sensex was trading around 36,890 levels, up 250 points, or 0.68 per cent. Tech Mahindra, Axis Bank, Kotak Mahindra Bank, NTPC, and Reliance Industries were the top gainers in the Sensex pack. The broader Nifty50 index was hovering near 10,920 level, up 73 points, or 0.67 per cent.
Nifty sectoral indices were trading largely in the green. While Nifty Private Bank index was up 1.2 per cent, Nifty Pharma index was down 0.5 per cent..
In the broader market, the S&P BSE MidCap index climbed 50 points, or 0.37 per cent, at 13,330 levels, while the S&P BSE SmallCap index zoomed 55 points, or 0.44 per cent, higher to 12,550 levels.

Markets saw the third-worst fall of 2019 on Friday as benchmark indices S&P BSE Sensex and Nifty50, both, fell to two-month low. The indices touched intra-day lows of 38,271 level at Sensex and 11,399 mark at Nifty. ‘Super-rich tax’ concerns on FPI, trade war tenions and weak corporate earnings contributed to the fall.
The Sensex tanked 560 points, or 1.44 per cent, to close at 38,337 levels with 26 of the 30 stocks listed at the index ending in the red. IndusInd Bank, Bajaj Finance, M&M, and YES Bank were the top laggards while only NTPC, TCS, PowerGrid and ONGC ended in the green. The Nifty50, too, lost 178 points, or 1.53 per cent, to settle at 11,419 mark. Of the 50 stocks listed at the index, only 7 stocks advanced while the remaining 43 declined.
In the broader market, S&P BSE MidCap closed 285 points, or 2 per cent, lower at 14,078 level while the S&P BSE SmallCap slipped 248 points, or 1.83 per cent, at 13,310 levels.
Sectorally, all the indices ended in the red. Nifty Auto index, too, tanked to two-month low to end 3.31 per cent lower. This was followed by losses in Nifty Private Bank index and Nifty Pharma index, down 2.45 per cent and 2.23 per cent respectively.
The Nifty Auto index hitting a three-year low on Friday. Thus far in the calendar year 2019, auto index slipped 21 per cent, against 5 per cent rise in the benchmark index. M&M, Motherson Sumi Systems, TVS Motor Company, Exide Industries, Escorts, MSIL, Eicher Motors, Hero MotoCorp, Bosch and Ashok Leyland have seen market value erosion of more than 22 per cent during the period.

Domestic indices ended Friday’s choppy session in the negative territory. The markets remained range-bound, in the positive territory, for most part of the day but were dragged lower by index heavyweights like HDFC Bank, Axis Bank, Larsen & Toubro, and Bajaj Finance.
The benchmark S&P BSE Sensex closed at 38,736 levels, down 87 points or 0.22 per cent. Among the gainers, YES Bank, Tata Steel, Sun Pharma and Vedanta topped the charts while ONGC, Bajaj Finance, ONGC and L&T were at the lower end of the spectrum.
The broader Nifty50 too settled with cuts. The 50-share index settled at 11,552 levels, down 30 points, or 0.26 per cent.
In the broader market, the BSE MidCap index ended 59 points, or 0.41 per cent, higher at 14,554 levels while the BSE SmallCap index closed 22 points, or 0.16 per cent, higher at 13,776 levels.
Sectorally, banking, financial services and FMCG counters were under pressure. The Nifty Bank index closed 0.37 per cent lower followed by Nifty Financial Services index, down 0.29 per cent. Among gainers, Nifty metals, pharma and realty counters were up between 0.4-0.7 per cent.

Benchmark indices erased their early gains to close Friday’s session lower, dragged down by metal stocks.
The benchmark S&P BSE Sensex closed 192 points, or 0.48 per cent, lower, with YES Bank, IndusInd Bank, Tata Motors, Reliance Industries, and ONGC the top losers.
The broader Nifty50 index slipped 53 points, or 0.45 per cent, to 11,789. The market breadth remained in favour of sellers. About 919 stocks declined and 822 advanced on the NSE.
On a weekly basis, however, the indices gained with the Sensex closing 0.5 per cent higher and the Nifty climbing 0.6 per cent.
Among Nifty sectoral indices, only three closed the day in the green. Nifty Metal, down 1.1 per cent, took the deepest cuts while the Nifty Private Bank index dipped 0.6 per cent.
In the broader market, the S&P BSE MidCap index settled 45 points, or 0.3 per cent, lower at 14,808, while the S&P BSE SmallCap index lost 10 points, or 0.07 per cent, to 14,239.

The benchmark indices ended slightly lower on Friday led by a fall in information technology (IT) and metal stocks.
The S&P BSE Sensex ended at 35,159, down 79 points, while the broader Nifty50 index settled at 10,585, down 13 points.
Among the sectoral indices, the Nifty IT index fell 0.8 per cent weighed by Infosys and Tata Consultancy Services (TCS). The Nifty Metal index slipped 0.9 per cent due to a decline in NMDC. On the other hand, the Nifty Pharma index settled 1.4 per cent higher led by a rise in Sun Pharma.
In stock-specific action, Bharti Airtel fell 2.9 per cent to Rs 297 on the BSE after Moody’s Investors Service placed it’s rating on review for downgrade, following low levels of profitability and expectation of weak cash flow. The stock had fallen as much as 5.21 per cent to Rs 290 on the BSE in intra-day trade.

The benchmark indices settled over 1.5 per cent higher on Friday led by a sharp rise in automobile stocks amid a jump in the Asian markets which rose as China and the United States expressed optimism about resolving their bruising trade war.
The S&P BSE Sensex ended at 35,012, up 580 points (up 1.8 per cent), while the broader Nifty50 index settled at 10,553, up 173 points (up 1.7 per cent). The indices ended over 5 per cent higher this week, making it the biggest weekly gain since May 2016.
Among the sectoral indices, Nifty Auto index rose 4.2 per cent led by a rise in Maruti Suzuki, Tata Motors and Hero MotoCorp. The Nifty Bank index, too, ended 1.5 per cent led by IndusInd Bank and Axis Bank.
In stocks, the oil and gas companies rallied led by BPCL which rose 6.4 per cent to Rs 301 on the BSE while IOC ended nearly 5 per cent higher at Rs 148.
The rupee firmed against the US dollar, reclaiming the 72-per-dollar levels. The Indian currency rose to 72.53 against the greenback in intra-day trade, up from its previous close of 73.45 per dollar.

The benchmark indices ended over 2 per cent higher on Friday after the rupee rose against US dollar amid firm Asian markets.
The S&P BSE Sensex ended at 34,734, up 732 points (2.15 per cent), while the broader Nifty50 index settled at 10,472, up 238 points (2.32 per cent).
The rupee strengthened against the US dollar on Friday, rising 53 paise to 73.58 against the greenback in intra-day trade.
Among sectoral indices, the Nifty Auto index settled 4 per cent higher led by a rally in shares of Mahindra & Mahindra and Maruti Suzuki India. The Nifty Bank index, too, rose 2.5 per cent led by IndusInd Bank and ICICI Bank.
However, the Nifty IT index slipped 1 per cent lower led by a fall in Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), which fell 3 per cent to Rs 1,920 on the NSE after the company reported a lower than expected revenue growth of 3.7 per cent in constant currency (CC) terms in September quarter on the sequential basis. The Street was estimating revenue growth of 4 per cent in CC terms for the quarter.

The benchmark indices settled over 1 per cent higher on Friday after falling for two consecutive days, led by a rise in the financial stocks and a ‘normal’ monsoon forecast during August-September by the India Meteorological Department (IMD). They also rose taking cues from their Asian peers which inched higher following a tech-led rise on Wall Street.
The S&P BSE Sensex ended at 37,556, up 391 points while the broader Nifty50 index settled at 11,361, up 116 points.
Among sectoral indices, the Nifty Bank index rose 1.24 per cent led by a rise in the shares of Axis Bank, YES Bank and Punjab National Bank. The Nifty Fin Service index, too, settled 1.54 per cent higher led by Indiabulls Housing Finance and Edelweiss Financial Services.
Shares of VIP Industries have moved higher by 10% to Rs 538 per share, also their record high on the BSE, after the company reported a strong 55% year on year (yoy) jump in its consolidated net profit at Rs 634 million in June quarter (Q1FY19). The company, which is engaged in manufacturing and marketing of luggage and bags, had a profit of Rs 410 million in the same quarter year ago.
